Sorry for the lack of posts in recent days, my day job has been very demanding and time intensive. I recently signed up as a full member with Afternic, for the purpose of listing domains for sale. I've been a member for several months, but only for the purpose of receiving alerts on domains for sale.
The majority of my domains are listed for sale at Godaddy (TDNAM), Sedo, Moniker. The main reason that stopped me signing up with Afternic previously, was probably their annual membership fee (now at $USD19.95/yr). Its risen considerably over the past few years, as other disgruntled members will attest to. Anyway, as you can appreciate, to charge members an annual fee, and then on top of that to charge them an additional 10% for each standard (basic) domain sale (minimum fee $60), 20% for each 'extended' domain sale (minimum fee $120).
In terms of value for money, at face value - Sedo and Godaddy (TDNAM) are much more attractive, and if you believe the sales statistics on the web - Sedo boast a higher rate of sales than Afternic.
I just wanted to see how another service compares. I will post the results of my domain listings in due course. Now im not a domain name expert, and i will not profess to be, but i've had the same domains listed for the same prices at different domain sale sites. TDNAM have a much higher sales rate (for my experiences anyway).
Will keep you informed in how Afternic measure up (in my humble opinion of course). I'd like to see whether the Extended listing feature really offers greater prospects than the Basic listing, so far the Basic listed domains have received just as many views (not offers) as the Expanded listings.
Cheers
Don.
